Narcisses 10 May 2014

DSCN1412 On Saturday 10 May some of those from the weekend before reconvened at Caux DSCN1413 The Caux Palace, Lac Léman and a blooming horse chestnut DSCN1414 We were in search of the "snow of May", the wild narcissus that survives in ungrazed meadows along the Riviera DSCN1416 Fence line contrasts show that the narcissus need to be protected from grazing and trampling herds.
DSCN1415 There is a whole association here dedicated to the protection of this phenomenon DSCN1417 The flowers are striking DSCN1423 beautiful DSCN1418 and in places profuse
DSCN1420 Rennie, who works at the Surval private school, was with us last weekend DSCN1422 So was Carol, but this time Bri and Nico came with us DSCN1424 This chalet between Caux and Haut de Caux is for sale 20140510 103810 as is the empty lot next to it. (This could replace my favorite empty lot above Irish Beach in Mendocino County).
DSCN1428 Bri and NIco checking it out DSCN1429 Maybe they are imagining building a place here DSCN1426 Why not?? DSCN1431 In front of Claude Nobs house, we stopped to play with a local kitty
DSCN1432 A few kilometers further we dropped through a pasture called Nermont DSCN1433 There are a few chalets there with beautiful gardens DSCN1435 As Nermont was north facing the bloom was not very advanced DSCN1436 but lower down it gained in intensity
DSCN1437 The smell was wonderful 20140510 132024 Another few kilometers and we were in the Vallon d'Orgevaux with a "chenilette" - a powered cart 20140510 133054 A better bloom on this south facing slope above Saumont 20140510 133104 (We will be back here later in the month)
20140510 135907 The ban of the flower lovers! 20140510 135931 But sheepies gotta eat too, right? 20140510 143847 A stream following through an apartment in Fontanivent DSCN1439 Tulips in the center of Chernex
